COVER OF THE DAY: Jessie J Covers The Naked & Famous

For those of you who don’t know Jessie J (I didn’t but I’ve been lagging in my music lately) she is a british pop singer who I think is comparable to Lily Allen or Natasha Bedingfield. So she stopped by BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform some of her songs as well as this cover of The Naked & Famous’s “Young Blood” and cover she did. I like this cover better than her songs! Listen below and if you want to find out more on Jessie J just go to her Myspace Page here.

LISTEN: Lady Gaga – “Born This Way”

Lady Gaga is channeling her inner Madonna in her first single “Born This Way” off her upcoming album with the same name due out in May. I do not want to make any preemptive  judgements but so far I am just meh about this. The song sounds very “been there done that” to me but we will just have to wait and see what the rest of the album holds! Listen below and let us know what you think of the track.

LISTEN: Lykke Li – “I Follow Rivers”

Yet another track leak from Lykke Li’s upcoming album Wounded Rhymes out March 1st. We’ve loved all the tracks so far, what about you?

LISTEN: Black Eyed Peas – “Do It Like This”

I hate to admit that this new Black Eyed Peas song gets me boppin in my cubicle…that doesn’t mean it’s the greatest song ever. It’s definitely one million times better than the previously leaked track “The Time (Dirty Bit)” but it still feels like they are doing everything safe and generic. Anyway listen below and let us know what you think. Like it? Hate it? Or do you feel like me – it’s good to dance to and thats it. And P.S. why do I feel like Fergie has a countdown in every song??amirite?

LISTEN: Adele – Rolling in the Deep

Yes…british songstress Adele is finally back with a new single titled “Rolling in the Deep” off her sophmore album 21 which will be released early 2011. I just love her voice she can really belt it out but still keeping intact this raw emotion. Check out the song below!

Cover of the Day: The Suzan – “Paranoid” by Kanye West

As we have blogged before ( see post), The Suzan are pretty awesome girl group who’s debut album Golden Week For the Poco Poco Beat drops October 26th through Fool’s Gold. Now they have done a cover of Kanye’s “Paranoid” (via The Fader) which comes off a little more creepy…good creepy. It’s slow and very minimalistic on the instruments which gives a new twist to this track. Listen below and download at The Fader!

Halloween Idea: Katy Perry As Freddie Mercury

Katy Perry just earned back 5 points of respect (previously deducted by releasing “Milk, Milk, Lemonade“) by dressing as the leadsinger of Queen, Freddie Mercury. What are you dressing as for Halloween?

I Hope They Regret This One: Black Eyed Peas – “The Time (The Dirty Bit)”

If I were the Black Eyed Peas I would immediately do a “Just Kidding!!!” press conference about this song. The recently leaked track “The Time (The Dirty Bit)” is off the group’s November album The Beginning and is just…horrible and totally unoriginal. First offense: sampling “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing. Second offense: way too much autotune. Seriously anyone can take an old song and add spaceship noises to the background. Listen below and let us know your thoughts!

Listen: Pink – “Raise Your Glass”

So I guess Pink is releasing a Greatest Hits album which has a release date of November 16th and has decided to include 2 brand spankin new songs on it. The first newbie “Raise Your Glass” is a fun party song (DUH) dedicated to all the underdogs out there!  It definitely has a “Get the Party Started” feel mixed with Black Eyed Peas “I Got a Feeling” which equals girls night out music…yes I said it. The track, which you can listen to below, will be available for purchase starting October 18th and I am betting on this song becoming yet another addition to her greatest hits.

Favorite lyric: “What part of party don’t you understand.”

NEW: Bruno Mars’s “Count On Me” Sounds Like Plain White T’s

Bruno Mars‘s debut album Doo-Wops & Hooligans dropped today… have you picked it up yet? Or are you puritanically boycotting him because of his coke bust in Vegas? Either way, check out his lovey dovey track “Count On Me” below. THEN compare it to the annoyingly catchy 2008 Plain White T’s song “1-2-3-4.” Strangely similar in subject AND sound, no? BUSTED!
