Guess I will never fulfill my dreams of finally seeing the White Stripes in concert. Jack and Meg have announced they will no longer be making any music together, essentially they want to go out with a bang. Now excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep in the corner to the tune of “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground.”
Well played Colbert…well played. The Black Keys and Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra stopped by the Colbert Report to help Stephen decide on “Best Alternative Album” for the Grammys. The game is the “Sell-Out Off” and shall be determined by who whores out their music the most. It’s actually funny to see all the commercials both bands’ songs have been in…they gotta make their money somewhere people! I would try and stay neutral on the two bands but everyone knows I absolutely love Vampire Weekend. So much that while drunk at the bar the past weekend some dude asked me what the best album of 2010 was and I answered Contra. I don’t necessarily agree with my drunken self on that but it was good. Congratulations to Lil Wayne who was released from prison Thursday morning. I had heard rumors that his people tried to find a plane with a recording studio in it…does this mean we may have some new Weezy music? We can only hope. Thanks to The Daily What I have been laughing for the past 5 minutes and replaying the video below of new apparant zombie-like dance craze based off of 1980′s movie Weekend at Bernie’s. I don’t care if this is a joke…I’m going to “do it like Bernie” this weekend although i’ll probably mess it up…I’m white and I can’t dance. Shocker. If I were the Black Eyed Peas I would immediately do a “Just Kidding!!!” press conference about this song. The recently leaked track “The Time (The Dirty Bit)” is off the group’s November album The Beginning and is just…horrible and totally unoriginal. First offense: sampling “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from Dirty Dancing. Second offense: way too much autotune. Seriously anyone can take an old song and add spaceship noises to the background. If you didn’t believe that the world is ending in 2012…maybe you will now. Apparantly Justin Bieber, jack of all trades, may be trying his hand at (sigh) rapping. Biggie just rolled over in his grave. I mean it isn’t horrendous by any means but I just find it annoying. You already can not go anywhere without seeing or hearing something associated with Justin Bieber and now this? Ten bucks he comes out with a rap cameo in another G.O.O.D. Friday song. Watch below!
Where to begin on this new track titled “Mean Mug” from Soulja Boy and 50 Cent. I get that it’s suppose to be a “fuck you” to their haters but they have put together some of the most unintimidating disses..well..ever, not to mention the weak beat. On the bright side…they could get into the Guinness Book of World Records for most use of “fuck” and the n-word in one song which isn’t exactly what I look for in my rap songs. Honestly Soulja Boy needs to go away forever and now 50 Cent is right back to zero on his “comeback”. Do people actually listen to this crap?
