If you are looking for something to do tonight in LA, check out The Suzan at Cinespace for Dim Mak Tuesdays! We are always talking about this girl group, they have great fun poppy beats and have just released their debut album Golden Week for the Poco Poco Beat. Get more info on this event here or keep checking back for more US tour dates at The Suzan.
So last week we let you guys know about a Bruno Mars secret show at The Grove in LA. We didn’t catch the show since we have jobs…gotta make that green! I’ll basically go to anything that is a.) free or b.) at The Grove so I am sad that I couldn’t go, especially after listening to a few more songs on his upcoming debut album.
Watch his performance of “Grenade” below and make sure to grab his album out early October!
Passion Pit has teamed up with Hipstamatic for a pretty cool contest. Basically you just send in a picture you have taken with Hipstamatic iPhone App that has to be inspired by the band’s song “Sleepyhead.” What is the prize you ask? The winner gets to attend the September 26th Passion Pit show with Muse and be the band’s photographer for the night! Sucks if you don’t have an Iphone…
The solo album Flamingos of The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers doesn’t drop until September 14th, but if you are lucky you may be able to catch him perform before that. The singer has announced on the band’s website a 5 stop tour from August 15th-26th which includes Los Angeles. Pre-sale tickets go on sale July 21st (tomorrow) for members of The Killers fan club and will be on sale for the general public July 23rd via Ticketmaster. Has your city made the cut?
August 15 – The Shimmer Room – Las Vegas, NV – Las Vegas Hilton
August 17 – Los Angeles, CA – Troubadour
August 19 – San Francisco, CA – Slim’s
August 23 – Chicago, IL – Park West
August 26 – New York, NY – Highline Ballroom
I hate to make anyone jealous but I must release my excitement for the Kings of Leon show I’ll be attending tonight at the infamous Hollywood Bowl before I burst. I’ve been a KOL fan since their inception, LONG before “Sex On Fire,” and I’m glad to see a great band with actual talent make it big. That’s what this industry is about right? Making and spreading GOOD music? I’d rather a previously under-the-radar band “hit it big” than a talentless, washed-up “celebrity” (a la Lindsay Lohan), but I digress.
After living in Los Angeles for 3 years, tonight I will lose my Hollywood Bowl virginity. That’s right. I live right above it in the hills, get stuck in its horrendously slow traffic every day of the summer, but have never attended one of its numerous summer shows. What a better way to be de-virginized than by seeing Kings Of Leon? At any rate, expect to see some uploads from the concert within the next few days. However, I must warn you, I will be in attendance tonight with my binocular-shaped flask. Needless to say, the pictures may turnout subpar — thanks in advance for your understanding!
Enjoy some Bonnaroo KOL “Sex On Fire,” my friends! Wish you were here.
