From now until it’s release date of January 18th, you can stream The Decemberists new album The King is Dead on NPR. My brother will be so happy as this is one of his fave bands. Just started listening now and it’s typical great sounds from a great band. Listen at NPR: NPR The Decemberists.

Band of Horses Perform at Wedding

Band of Horses has warmed my cold, dark heart with this little video. After finding out that Norwegian couple Njal and Elin got engaged at their Oslo concert, they did the unexpected: They showed up unannounced to perform at their wedding! Watch the performance of “Marry Song” below! It’s nice to see bands that care about their fans more than money…it’s good karma people.

Watch: Official Music Video for Black Mountain “The Hair Song”

As I’ve previously stated…I love this band and I can’t wait for the album. Look out for Wilderness Heart hitting stores and interwebs September 14th and watch the video below! Like it or hate it?

Listen: Freddy & Francine “Safe and Sound”

I have to give mad props to Annie for passing this band along to me today cause I’m loving this! Freddy & Francine was formed in 2008 in Northern California by members Bianca Caruso and Lee Ferris and Since then have produced two albums, the latest being The Briar Patch in 2009. Their sound reminds me of if you put Swell Season, The Mamas and the Papas and country band Sugarland in a blender and mixed it up: Folky with a hint of country in some songs. Check out the video below of their song “Safe and Sound” performed on the Santa Monica Ferris Wheel. I haven’t been on a ferris wheel since probably the 2003 Monroe County Fair double ferris wheel in which someone spit on me! True story. Check out their website here.
