WATCH: Vampire Weekend on Jools Holland

Oh how I love Vampire Weekend. I saw them back in September at the Hollywood Bowl and I have deemed it the 2nd best concert I’ve ever been to, they are amazing live. They recently performed on the Jools Holland NYE bash and per usual are great. Watch the video below!

Everyone’s favorite Dream-pop duo performed “10 Mile Stereo” on Conan two nights ago. If for some reason you have been living under a rock and have yet to check out their album Teen Dream…do yourself a favor and head on over to iTunes right now. Well, first finish reading this blog. Just as an FYI the album was ranked #17 on Spin’s 40 Best Albums of 2010…so it must be good. Check out the performance below! And P.S. I’M PLANE BLOGGING!

NEW ARTIST ALERT: Grouplove

Last Sunday we attended the Florence + The Machine concert at The Wiltern in LA…amazing amazing show. I’m glad that we made it to the show to catch the opening bands, one of which I was extremely impressed with: Grouplove. They had this great energy in their performance, even though they were the opening opening band I thought they played as if they were the main act. I loved their sound too…very west coast indie pop. Grouplove’s song “Gold Coast” was featured on the Sorcerer’s Apprentice Soundtrack and they are going to be starting a residency at Bootleg Theater (for all you Los Angeles peeps) in January 2011. They will also be releasing a full length album in 2011…they could possibly become my new Local Natives (blasphemy!!). Listen to the songs below and check out their interview with Los Angeles Times here.

Stream: Belle and Sebastian – “Write About Love”

It’s been 4 years since their last album, but indie pop band Belle and Sebastian are back with Write About Love dropping October 12th. With it’s 60’s pop feel and special guest appearances like Norah Jones it keeps my attention and I like it, but the question is will the true B&S followers like it? Probably…I mean they aren’t taking any risks within this album but why mess with a good thing. You can stream the album on NPR Music until it’s release date.
