COVER OF THE DAY: Jessie J Covers The Naked & Famous

For those of you who don’t know Jessie J (I didn’t but I’ve been lagging in my music lately) she is a british pop singer who I think is comparable to Lily Allen or Natasha Bedingfield. So she stopped by BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform some of her songs as well as this cover of The Naked & Famous’s “Young Blood” and cover she did. I like this cover better than her songs! Listen below and if you want to find out more on Jessie J just go to her Myspace Page here.

LISTEN: Bright Eyes – “Shell Games”

Conor is back, and I am so happy. The track “Shell Games” is off Bright Eyes upcoming album The People’s Key out February 15. From the sounds of this song, Conor is straying from his usual sound and going more modern and a little more radio friendly. Listen to the song below and download it on the Saddle Creek Records Website.

New Artist Alert: Celebration

The Baltimore based band recently caught my attention on another blog (I Guess I’m Floating) and the more I listened to their music the more I want to hear. The band consists of three members: Katrina Ford, Sean Antanaitis and David Bergander. Their upcoming album Hello Paradise will be released digitally and on vinyl through Friends Records out of Baltimore and consists of some great psychedelic songs – each representing a card in a virtual tarot deck. Crazy. Cool. Awesome! Although the digital version will be given away for free at Friends Records, I highly recommend purchasing the vinyl. The sound of this album is perfect for listening on a record player…thats just my opinion, take it or leave it. I have lots of opinions and they are all right. Anyway, check out “Battles” below from Celebration’s upcoming release and if you want to hear more go to Friends Records. And is it just me or is there parts of the song where Katrina sounds like Grace Slick?

FREE DOWNLOAD: Noah and the Whale – “Wild Thing”

Listen to the track “Wild Thing” below and if you love it like I do you can download it for free! Also, keep an eye out for their new album Last Night on Earth which is set to be released in March.
