LISTEN: New M.I.A. – Track Name Still Questionable

We hit up the M.I.A. (and Rye Rye) concert last night in Los Angeles at the Mayan downtown and let me tell you it did not disappoint. I was nervous because I honestly was not a big fan of Maya’s last album…it hurt my head with all the jackhammer noises. BUT she suprised me and performed many of her older (better) songs and the crowd loved it. I think I danced off 5 lbs just last night although if I danced half as well as Rye Rye I would be down 30 lbs by now. Girl got moves! Anyway, M.I.A. leaked a new track on her Twitter page about an hour ago. Not sure of the track name but check out the link below to hear it. What do you think?

Listen: Rye Rye – “Sunshine” featuring M.I.A.

Although I didn’t really enjoy the latest M.I.A. album, I am extremely excited for her protegé Rye Rye to release her debut album Go! Pop! Bang! in early 2011. The rapper, who has opened for M.I.A. on various tours, has a very raw sound which goes perfectly with the great beats in her songs. Case in point “Sunshine,” which features M.I.A. as well, has a mesmerizing beat and handclap that you just can’t get out of your head. It almost has a Kala album feel to it mixed with a little Santigold. Check out the song below and keep an eye out for Rye Rye’s debut album!

Watch: M.I.A. “Story To Be Told”

M.I.A. adds another work of art to her psyche-digital gallery. This time it’s her “Story To Be Told” video seen only at (Yes that is a real URL — thank god for CTRL + C).

Cover of the Day: The Clientele – “Paper Planes” by M.I.A.

I know that “Paper Planes” is extremely played out. I know it, you know it, hell even my friend’s dog knows it. While browsing the AV Club’s Undercover series videos I came across this cover and it invigorated my love for the song. British band The Clientele picked this song from the list because it was “outside their comfort zone” as lead singer Alasdair MacLean says. Add in some violins and claps paired with a psychedelic sound you get a new twist on an over played song.

Check out the video below. What do you think?
